Like your own story, I remember finding this book in a library either late high school or early college. I was fascinated with it and learned several great things from it. His idea in the book about building up an instantaneously accessible credit line is brilliant and a strategy I still use today.
Chad Carson says
Cool to hear, Michael! I also found the strategy to build up credit lines brilliant. It particularly jumped out at me as a brand new investor with no credit.

Great interview, coach! I especially appreciate the people you interview who have decades of experience. I liked your question about moving from “wealth building returns” to “wealth sustaining returns” – and Mark’s answer was right on point. Thank you!
Chad Carson says
Glad you enjoyed it, JKC! Thanks for listening. As the person doing the interview, it’s VERY helpful to me as well talking with these long-time investors. I appreciated his response to the wealth-sustaining question as well.

I get excited when seeing references to Mark’s book or seeing it on someone’s shelf. This was also the first real estate book that I read and it was in college. My dad was a real estate broker and builder and the book was on his desk. It led me to read “The Richest Man in Babylon”. Although I did not start buying investment real estate for many years, it planted the seed and provides much of the fundamental knowledge you need to get started. Now we are also buying apartments and enjoying a life of financial independence. And looking forward to reading the new book.
Chad Carson says
Wow, very similar to my own story. Amazing how this book was a seed that grew into a profitable journey for you. Congrats and thanks for sharing.

Like others, would love to get a copy of the book.

Thanks for all of your podcasts, blogs, and materials!
I am a newbie who is 100% committed to real estate investing, I currently commit 2-4 hours daily to learning about the biz and studying properties while I amass capital for my 1st deal.
This interview in particular was wonderful for me because Mark O. Heroldson’s speech and demeanor remind me of my late father. Like Mr. Heroldson, my father was an expert in his field (music) who mentored others, met famous people and lived a life of gratitude. They share the speech patterns of well seasoned, generous people who, while going through the ups and downs, have developed tremendous self confidence while remaining humble.
I would absolutely love to read his book if possible!!
And, thanks again for everything you share and the way you share it!
