From the manufacturer
About us
The history of Canson spans nearly half a millennium since the factory was born in 1557 in the small hamlet of Vidalon, now a neighborhood in Annonay Ardeche, and developed through the Montgolfier family.
Over generations, Canson has managed to retain the expertise of master craftsmen stationers, while continuing to innovate: tracing paper in 1807, Mi-Teintes, the first dyed paper , a patented photographic paper in 1865 and used by the pioneers of photography, the famous school 'pochette' in 1947, Canson Infinity, a range dedicated to inkjet printing for editing and art photography in 2008 ...
Over the centuries, the greatest artists and designers have used the Canson papers: Delacroix, Van Gogh, Degas, Matisse, Picasso, Dali, Warhol, Jean-Michel Alberola, Toguo, Philippe Starck, Yan Pei-Ming ...
Canson has created special links with them up to imagine special papers for Ingres and Maillol, or by giving to them support and visibility, whether they be great artists, designers, architects, fashion designers, cartoonists, photographers and amateur enthusiasts as well as children and schoolchildren.

I have nothing but good things to say about this particular sketch book and brand- a long standing, good, reputable name in the industry for years. It will serve you or anyone you are buying for well
The amount of paper you get for the price is a great deal and it is perfect for sketching out ideas. I mostly use pencil for my sketches, however, I have used the paper for light washes of watercolor, and the paper works well enough with minimal buckling or the water bleeding through to other pages like it does in some of my other sketchbooks. I have also used gouache, ink, and even used it as a practice pad for calligraphy with pilot parallel ink. Although ink is visible on the back of the page, I was really happy that there was almost no feathering of the ink. Of course, I wouldn't recommend it for your next masterpiece - it is a sketchbook after all, but it is perfect for those preliminary or test drawings.
I have this sketchbook in multiple sizes, the 5.5 x 8.5, 9 x 12, and 11 x 14 pad. For me, the 9 x 12 gets the most use when I am at home because it provides ample space but fits comfortably on my lap. The 5.5 x 8.5 is perfect for traveling.
I feel confident that I will continue to purchase this sketchbook and would recommend it.

The serious artist looking for a cheap warm-up pad/scrap pad
The beginner artist who needs something of perfect size, price, and quality to start sketching on.

I just got this sketchbook yesterday, and I was blown away by the quality!
One of the things that i was happiest about was actually the binding! It has a large diameter double-rung bind, and the punches for binding are round -instead of square- which helps with flipping pages. I store a mechanical pencil in the rungs, works super well!
The paper quality is surprisingly good, the tooth is PERFECT -less than standard sketch paper but more than drawing paper.
The size could not be better! It's not too large to carry into a museum or art gallery, while still having enough space to do great drawings.
It has a thick, sturdy back cover made out of pressed cardboard. The perforations come in handy if you screw up an entire page! Hahaha!
*** Something that I need mention is that the front cover is surprisingly thin and feels very cheap; so don't expect this to last forever as your treasured final-drawings sketchbook.
Overall: a fantastic sketchbook! Especially since it's dirt cheap!!
Some things that set this product apart from other sketchbooks:
* First, it costs less than a lot of other sketchbooks. Always a good thing.
* Second, it has more pages than many other sketchbooks.
* Third, using my Sakura pens, I don't have any bleed through to the next page.
* Fourth, the paper is micro-perforated. This allows you to quickly and neatly remove pages.
* Fifth, the paper is acid-free. While it might not be archival quality it should last longer.
* Finally, it's not just a "cute" size, it's VERY portable. As I said, I take it everywhere.
So, I recommend this sketchbook. Your bank account will thank you as well.
Top reviews from other countries
The paper quality is great and holds up to heavy erasing really well. And the size is perfect for those of us who are intimidated by large blank pages.
I will always buy this book. Unless they come out with a similar recycled version.
